Three Loaves Bakehouse
(Townsville QLD)
OCT 2024
The Townsville 🥧 reviews continued to roll on, next place on the list to visit was
Three Loaves Bakehouse. This bakery has been operating for around 13 years in the Townsville area and they have predominantly been in wholesale bread scene distributing their products all around the Townsville region. It might come as a surprise to many that they also do a great selection of pies, hence my visit. I met the owners Andrew and Danielle at the factory and got an impressive tour, then jumped in my car and headed over to their shop location at Fairfield Central Shopping Centre. It was there I met Rachel and the rest of the crew.
Like all bakeries the place was absolutely spotless and the cabinet display was unbelievable. Everywhere you looked there was something different that caught your attention. They say people buy with their eyes and in this case I would have bought absolutely everything in this bakery.
Open 7 days a week, everything you could ask for is freshly baked and stocked in these cabinets. For a small bakery the variety is first class and gee wizz all this delicious food was making me hangry. So Rachel took me over to the 🥧 warmer to have a look.
Not a massive list to choose from, but still plenty here to keep me satisfied. After casting my eye over the 🥧menu, I kept on going back to one 🥧, and that was the Beef Burgundy. It’s been ages since I have reviewed one of these particular flavored pies, and I couldn’t wait to test this one out.
🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧
1. Value for Money – $6.50 was sensational value for a 🥧 of this size and flavour. Depth and diameter were more than acceptable, plus some 🥧 punters out there would consider a “Beef and Burgundy 🥧” to be classified a gourmet style 🥧. Excellent value. 9.5/10
2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Totally full and that’s all I got to say about that. Great job. 10/10
3. Flavour – Really impressive !!! The threaded meat was cooked right through and tasted great while the rich red wine that the meet was bathed in tasted devine. The only negative and this was tiny was the meat was a fraction dry and only a fraction. The overall flavour this 🥧 was delicious, thoroughly enjoyed. 9/10
4. Pastry – Not much wrong with this pastry. There was a small amount of shrinkage on one side and the photos may make it difficult to see, but the bottom bake and one side was slightly underdone and underbaked. Everything else I have this pastry was beautiful the shape color and particularly the pastry flavor was great. Overall the baking team has done a sterling job on this one. 8.5/10
5. Serving Temperature – Once again another perfect serving temp. 10/10
Overall Rating
🥧🥧 47/50 🥧🥧
This was a really great product. The scores were very consistent, but more importantly, the flavor in this 🥧 and pastry was beautiful. $6.50 is very cheap for a 🥧 of this flavor/size and even better it was totally full. As mentioned in the review, there wasn’t many negatives, just a few tweaks needed here and there. In my opinion, a good beef burgundy 🥧 is so underrated and I’m so glad I gave this particular 🥧 a test run. Great job guys, keep up the grea work and your was fantastic.
A massive thanks to Andrew, Danielle and Rachel for having me, showing me around and for their amazing hospitality. These guys run an exceptional business and their products clearly speak for themselves. This was a little hidden gem that I didn’t know about, but make sure you add Three Loaves Bakehouse to your own 🥧 list, because it’s a little beauty.
