The Pastry Place

(Robe SA)

February, 2026

After leaving Millicent we continued on with our journey eventually stopping for a few nights in picturisique town of Robe. This was a area I had not visited before and was keen set up camp for a few days and do some exploring.

While I was in Robe, I stumbled across a little hidden gem called

The Pastry Place Robe. The plastry place is a cute little coffee shop located in Union Street just off the Main Street. Owners Riley and Kahlia have had this place for 8 years and the place is open Monday to Friday.

Kahlia was a physiotherapist’s, but her love for good food and baking led her to this place. From the moment you walk in your greeted by a sensational cabinet display that is jammed packed with a massive assortment of freshly baked products. The croissants caught by eye immediately they looked absolutely amazing as did the cakes and fresh paninis, but I needed to stay focused and I immediately made my way over to the 🥧 warmer to take a look.

There is a ripping assortment of 🥧’s on the menu and they all looked sensational. Kahlia’s mum Sue is the lady behind the flavours and gee wizz they all looked great. I ended up going with the “Beef, Bacon & Onion” and it looked absolutely delicious.

🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧

1. Value for Money – Yes $9.50 is up there, but this bad boy weighed in at a whopping 320 grams. It was a deep 🥧 and totally full. Based on the weight of this 🥧 the $9.50 price tag is well priced 8.5/10

2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Pics will show this 🥧 was totally full. 10/10

3. Flavour – The flavour was great. Slow cooked beef, bacon, onion then bathed in a red wine sauce. The beef tasted great, but it was the red wine sauce that made this 🥧. Nothing fancy here just a great flavoured 🥧. 8.5/10

4. Pastry – The color, shape, and shrinkage were all great. This was a very heavy 🥧 and the stability was excellent. When the 🥧 was tipped on its axis it didn’t move at all. The only negative was the bakes, the top and bottom were both underdone as photos will show. The bottom half of the 🥧 was a little soft which could have been a result of sitting in the aluminum tray. Overall, the pastry standard was very good, just needed a few tweaks here and there. 7.5/10

5. Serving Temperature – Perfect serving temp 10/10

Overall Rating

🥧🥧 44.5/50 🥧🥧

This was a really nice product. The flavour for me was the best part of this experience. The beef was beautiful and the added bacon and red wine gave this 🥧 some added punch. The $9.50 price tag was very reasonable given the 🥧’s weight and the 🥧 was completely full. Only real negative for me was the pastry bake, apart from that this was a great product and one I would easily have again. I will say I did grab a croissant and it was the best one I’ve ever had !!! It was amazing.

To Riley and Kahlia a massive thanks for having me in on very short notice. You guys run a phenomenal business and I’m so glad I stumbled across it. The products you produce are outstanding and the community of Robe is extremely lucky to have a awesome business like yours in town. The hard work you put into this place is incredible whist trying to raise a young family. If your travelling through this wonderful part of 🇦🇺 make sure you pop in and visit this epic 🥧 joint.

Robe and nearby Kingston are 100% worth checking out and exploring. The beaches, national parks, 4WD tracks are all sensational. The Robe Holiday Park was a fantastic place and I cannot recommend it enough. The park is massive, the sites are very generous and the amenities are spotless clean.

As always thanks for the ongoing support and keep supporting 🇦🇺 bakeries and don’t forget to invite all your friends to the page.
