2025 Pyney’s 🥧 Reviews
Review No 11
The Humle Bakehouse
(Bligh Park NSW)

Oct 2024

The 2024 🥧 tour was over and it was massive. Over 15,000km travelled and over 50 plus bakeries visited. On the way home I popped in to see my baking family at Bakewise for a quick strategy meeting and ended up ducking out to see one of there valued clients, Anton and Candice at The Humble Bakehouse. This quick meeting turned into a impromptu 🥧 review, these can sometimes turn out to be the best ones.

The Humble Bakehouse is located on Sirius Rd, Bligh Park, employs over 18 staff, and is open 7 days a week. Owners Anton and Candice have had this place for over 6 years, and the bakery has been in operation for over 30 years.

Inside the bakery you will find a terrific cabinet display and a great variety of old school products. This place has everything you could ask for plus much more. It was out the back in the engine room that caught my attention. The work space is tiny and I mean tiny. It was complete mayhem out the back, but the crew made it work and it works very well. Even getting the new Bakewise oven in the bakery was a mission. This oven is huge and the team did an amazing job just getting it into this place. After chatting to the team and doing a few videos it was time to get a few 🥧’s out and get this party started.

A huge variety here with over 15 flavours on offer. After looking at the board for what seemed like an eternity, I ended up going to my mate Jessie for advice. Jessie’s go to 🥧 here is the “ Pulled Pork”. One thing I’ve learnt doing these reviews is you need to listen and take advice from locals, so with that in mind I ended up choosing the “Pulled Pork”

🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧

1. Value for Money – $7 was more than reasonable value. The 🥧 was a decent size in both depth and diameter, and weighed industry standard. I wouldn’t say that this particular flavored 🥧 would be considered in the gourmet range, but it was still good value. 8.5/10

2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Totally full with no room left in this 🥧. Great job guys. 10/10

3. Flavour – I really enjoyed this flavor !!! The slow cooked pulled pork melted in your mouth and tasted devine. The BBQ smoked sauce was sensational and had a really nice sweet flavour to it. The team has done a sterling job with this one. 9/10

4. Pastry – A few minor points to work on, but the overall pastry in this 🥧 was on the top end of the scale. The shape, stability, color and shrinkage were all there about’s and the pastry flavour tasted great. The bakes and thicknesses didn’t have much wrong either. The top bake had a little wet line which was only marginal, while the bottom bake, while baked out was a smidge thick and I’m talking only smidge. 8.5/50

5. Serving Temperature – Perfect temp. 10/10

Overall Rating
🥧🥧 46/50 🥧🥧

This was a quality product as was all the 🥧’s I sampled that day. The flavor in this pie was beautiful and I loved the sweet smoked bbq sauce, it really complemented the pulled pork. The price point was very affordable and to top it off the was completely full. The pastry was near perfect with only a few tweaks needed here and there. Overall, Anton and his team have done a wonderful job. I would have no hesitation having another one of these terrific 🥧’s.

100% add this little bakery to your little black 🥧 book. it’s an absolute gem. This is your classic old school, bakery and one you shouldn’t miss. To Anton and Candice a huge thanks for having me in on short notice. I absolutely loved this visit and enjoyed, hearing your 🥧 journey and chatting to yourstaff. You guys do a wonderful job here and the community are so lucky to have such a terrific bakery in there neighborhood. All of these guys, stay in touch. Lastly, a huge thanks to Jessie from Bakewise for lining up the this review.
