After seeing everything the Great Ocean Road, Torquay and Geelong area had to offer it was time to jump over to the Mornington Pensinula and do some exploring. I also had lined up a review at a cracking joint called The Good Food Bakery.
The Good Food Bakery is located at Mornington-Tyabb Rd Mornington and the place is 100% gluten free. Not only is this place gluten free, it’s also a fully accredited bakery with Celiac Australia. Owner Amir bought the place almost 3 years and manager Sharni has been here 4. Together the two have created an exceptional place with exceptional food.
Every single item on offer here is 100% gluten free and the variety of food produced is fantastic. The cabinet display is beautiful and totally full. There is also seating in inside to sit and relax. What really surprised me was how busy this place was. There was a heck of lot of people coming and going even the non gluten free 🥧 punters were here to smash these very popular 🥧’s. Speaking of 🥧’s it was time to get this party started.
There is a great little selection of 🥧’s on offer with some excellent flavours put together. I decided to review a flavour I hadn’t had for quite some time and that was a “Lamb & Rosemary” Sharni mentioned it was one of there most popular, so i was keen to give it a go.
🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧
1. Value for Money – $9 was in my opinion fantastic value for this GFP. Weighing in at 250 grams, it was a decent sized 🥧 and completely full. As most of you would know GF ingredients are more expensive and this needs to be taken into account. Overall extremely good value. 9.5/10
2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Jammed packed !!! Simple as that

3. Flavour – The flavour was great. The lamb pieces were massive and incredibly tender. The rosemary wasn’t overpowering and blended in perfectly. This was nothing fancy with this one, just a good old fashioned lamb and rosemary 🥧 that worked a treat. Great job guys. 8.5/10
4. Pastry – Yes GF pastry is a lighter color than normal pastry and this GF 🥧 was no different. The top color had a nice golden touch to it and tasted ok. The bottom bake and top bake were incredibly thick and both slightly underbaked. This can easily be fixed but in this case it has affected the overall pastry score. 6/10
5. Serving Temperature – Perfect serving temp. No issues at all. 10/10

Apart from the pastry effecting the overall score this was a really nice flavoured 🥧. $9 was sensational value considering its size and it was totally full. The flavour was really nice and probably my favourite part. Those lamb pieces were huge and melted in your mouth. Yes the pastry thickness and bake needed some tweaking but that’s easily fixed. If your chasing a really nice GF flavoured 🥧 well this one will be right up your alley. Well done team I not only did I enjoyed this 🥧 I enjoyed all the 🥧’s i sampled. 100% add this place to your GF bakery list.
Sharni and Amir a big thank you for your incredible hospitality. This was a fantastic visit and gave me a better understanding into the celiac world. This place is amazing and what Sharni and Amir have created here is nothing short of spectacular. Celiac or not this is a fantastic bakery and one that should be on everyone’s list, highly recommended.
