The Bread Social
(Currumbin Gold Coast)
Ok 🥧 lovers the 2024 year is here and in full swing and the first offical review of the new year was down at the Gold Coast suberb of Currumbin.
I got a tip on a epic joint called
Bread Social social and I thought while I was in the area I might as well pop in and check this legendary place out.
Bread Social juggernaught is now in 4 locations these are the new factory at Currumbin, Byron Bay, Tweed Heads and the Isle of Capri. As mentioned above I decided to visited there latest bakery and factory in Currumbin.
Owners Sam, Paul and Tom opened their first Bread Social store back in 2015. Fast forward 9 years and this once small business now employs over 100 staff.
As the name suggests this place specializes in bread and I’m not just talking about the plain old loaf of white. This joint sells some of the best varities of sourdough I’ve ever seen and people travel from all over the place to try their amazing products.
Apart from the tantalizing bread these legends also make 🥧’s and that’s the real reason why I lined up a review at this place. After getting the tour of the new factory it was time to rip in and choose a 🥧 to review.
This weeks decision was very easy, I was chatting to one 🥧 punter out the front and he suggested I try the slow cooked braised beef. The one he was smashing looked incredible and that’s the 🥧 I decided to run with for this weeks review.
🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧
1. Value for Money – I’m not going to lie $9.40 is defiantly up there on the high scale. The 🥧 was a decent size in depth and diameter and every ingredient in this 🥧 was made from scratch. Yeah this was one of the priciest 🥧’s I’ve reviewed for a while, but after sampling the product the overall price tag was ok value. 6.5/10
2. Meat Ratio – Very good actually. The top pastry puffed up a little and this gave you the impression the 🥧wasn’t full, where in reality it was pretty good. 8.5/10
3. Flavour – Superb !!! The flavour in this 🥧 got better and better with every bite. The slow cooked beef was perfectly cooked and was incredibly tender. The added veggies were also beautiful and were the perfect blend. To top it off the homemade gravy stock complemented this 🥧 and wasn’t runny at all. Overall the flavour was sensational 9.5/10
4. Pastry – Shape and shrinkage were both pretty good, while the color was a little dark on one corner. The bake thicknesses were excellent on top and the bottom, while the top bake had slight wet lines was underbaked. Stability was a little tricky with the bottom being incredibly soft which made it a little tricky to eat. The flavor of the pasty was actually really nice and tasted great. Overall a couple little things to work on but nothing major nor something that cannot be tweaked. 7/10
5. Serving Temperature – This bugger was a little warm, but nothing to worry about. 9/10

The score may not be reflected, but this was a really nice product. The flavour of this 🥧 was epic and easily my favourite. The meat and juices in this 🥧 was beautifully cooked. Yes the price point was on the high end of the scale, but this place would be considered a boutique style bakery. The bottom pastry needed a little work, but nothing major and something that can easily be fixed. Overall the lads have done a good job with this one and I would have no hesitation smashing another one. If your around the area the the boys are currently doing a goat massaman, which sounds incredible.
A huge thanks to the boys for their time and having me in. This new set up at Currumbin is super impressive and once fully up and running will look mint. You wouldn’t meet 3 better blokes and I’m so greatful for there time and hospitaliity. 100% add this place to your 🥧 book and travel plans. Everything about the place oozes class and you certainly won’t be dissapointed
