The Angry Baker
Earlier last week I was scrolling the internet looking for bakeries to visit for this weeks review. After searching for a little while i stumbled across another cracking and intriguing name for a bakery. Similar to the “Toasted Pig” the week before I knew I had to meet this “Angry Baker” and see first hand how cranky this fella actually was. I didn’t have to travel far only a short 45min trip down the Bruce Hwy to the coasted suburb of Caloundra.
I wasn’t sure what to expect after all the name “Angry Baker” had me scared and I was telling myself don’t piss this dude off otherwise he may loose his shit and this review could go pair shaped. I was soon greeted by the man himself Damon. Born and raised in the USA, Damon has done/worked/studied everything you could imagine. But his love affair with Australia and more importantly 🥧’s inspired him to open his own bakery. So 12 months ago he created and opened the The Angry Baker – Bakery / Cafe – Caloundra. Yep what a story !!!! No bullshit Damon has done that many remarkable things in his life but his main goal was to open his own Bakery. Now that’s legendary.
This bakery has a true American theme and there are various products sold here that would get you thinking that your actually in the good old US of A. Employing 8 staff Damon has created a bakery filled with great color and decor. After listening to Damon’s amazing life journey it was finally time to choose a 🥧 for this weeks review.
This weeks 🥧 of choice was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made. I came here for one 🥧 and one 🥧 only and that was the 🇺🇸🥧. Yep that’s right Damon and his bakers have bought America to Caloundra and stuffed it into a 🥧.

1. Value for Money – $7 for this gourmet 🥧 and to be fair this wasn’t bad value. The size and depth of this 🥧 was better than satisfactory. Plus the ingredients were first class. 7.5/10
2. Meat Ratio – Once again photos don’t lie !!!! This American 🥧 was completely full. Absolutely ZERO room at all. 10/10
3. Meat Flavour – OUTSTANDING !!! premium mince, relish, onion, american cheddar, tomato, mustard, ketchup and special sauce !!! This 🥧 had incredible flavor. 10/10
4. Pastry – Looks can be very deceiving. My first thoughts were this 🥧 is going to fall apart. But it held together right to the end. Overall very good. 8/10
5. Temperature – Almost perfect. It was a smidge to hot but overall very good temp. 9.5/10

Man I loved this 🥧. The meat ratio and meat flavor were crazy good. The 4 different sauces added great kick and the mince was of the highest quality. Once again people could argue the price point was a tad high, but this is a gourmet 🥧 and this was of highly quality. It’s hard to explain what I can compare this to but to put it simply it’s just a whole heap of ingredients shoved into a 🥧.
This bakery is funky and extremely colorful. Damon and his team have done an incredible job over the past 12 months. Open 7 days from 5am, this place has everything you need. The Angry Baker is easy to find, it’s right in the middle of Bulcock Street and keep a eye out for the Angry Bakers Van.
Most new businesses don’t survive the 12 month date and heavily rely on local support. I do know one thing almost every ingredient used in this bakery is purchased locally in Caloundra so if you’re in the Caloundra area get down and support the guys and smash a few 🥧’s
As always I need to thank Damon and the entire staff at the Angry Baker. Damon has hand picked a group of hard working individuals looking for a opportunity and the entire time I was there they were extremely helpful and great fun. Don’t take any notice of the name “Angry Baker” because Damon is the opposite to that, he’s one of the nicest and kind hearted fellas you’d meet. Once again another example of someone having a dream and chasing that dream through lots hard work and determination. I sincerely wish Damon all the best. This is one place the 🥧 man will be visiting again.
