Pyney’s 🥧 Reviews
South Windsor Pie Stop
(South Windsor NSW)
November 2025
A few months ago I went out to South Windsor in Western Sydney with Antonio from Only Pies. We made a very quick stop into the
South Windsor Pie STOP
and tried a 🥧 or three. Our visit was awesome but very short, some of the flavours had sold out and I never got to meet the owners which was a shame. I vowed if I was ever back in the area, I would get back out to this epic joint, smash some more 🥧’s, do a proper review and meet the awesome owners Kevin and his daughter Courtney.
As the name suggests the 🥧 shop is located in South Windsor on the corner of Cambell and George Street. Roughly 13 years ago Kevin had a 🥧 dream. This die-hard 🥧 lover had a gut full of smashing 🥧’s that once bitten into totally fell apart and caused a 🥧 disaster. So with the help of Courtney he made the decision to leave the retail trade and jump head first into the 🥧 trade.
This is a traditional 🥧 shop and is open every day except Sunday. You won’t find any cakes, sweet treats or even doughnuts here, however will find over 25 flavoured 🥧’s, sausage rolls and a great assortment of fruit 🥧’s. This place seriously pumps and during my visit there was a consistent flow of 🥧 lovers coming in having a serious crack. For such a little shop the numbers these legends are doing is phenomenal. The look and smell of all these 🥧’s got the blood flowing and I couldn’t wait to get started.
As previously mentioned above with over 25 epic flavour to choose from, making a decision on what 🥧 to review was going to be difficult. Seriously the combination of flavours on offer here is ridiculous. In the end, I’m a sucker for diane sauce and the “Chunky Steak Diane” 🥧 was the one I ran with.
🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧
1. Value for Money – At a impressive 309 grams this $9 🥧 in my opinion represented fantasic value. This thing was a decent size in both depth and diameter which made ever better value for money. Some 🥧 pundits we still argue $9 is too high, but you have to take serious consideration that this 🥧 weighed roughly 85 grams above the industry standard. 9.5/10
2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Totally full !!! No more words required. 10/10
3. Flavour – One word “Outstanding” i’m gonna call it, this is the best steak and diane 🥧 I’ve ever had. The slow cooked meat chunks were massive an incredibly tender. The diane sauce was the icing on the cake, it tasted devine. Once again nothing more to say, LOVED it 10/10
4. Pastry – The color of these 🥧’s will grab your attention straight away. The top was golden, hand crimped and flakey. Stability was easily the best part of this pastry, this was a heavy beast and when tipped upside down it didn’t move a muscle. Both bake thicknesses were on point and the top and bottom bakes were a smidge away from being perfect. The flavour of this pastry was excellent as well. Overall not much wrong and near perfect. Well done. 9/10
5. Serving Temperature – Perfect serving temp !!! 10/10
Overall Rating
🥧🥧 48.5/50 🥧🥧
This was a near perfect 🥧 !!! Yes I’ve already called it, this was the “best steak/diane 🥧” I’ve ever had. Everything about this 🥧 I loved particularly the flavour. Kevin wanted to create a 🥧 that didn’t spill out, well he’s a achieved this. For a heavy 🥧 the pastry stood up exceptionally well and held firm. At 309 grams $9 is awesome value and the 🥧 was totally full. Exceptional job, Courtney you have completely nailed this one.
This 🥧 joint is a absolute must stop. The flavour selection will have your mind racing and you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended.
To Kevin and Courtney thank you so much for coming back to me and allowing me to share your incredible journey. You guys have put your heart and soul into this place and deserve every success that comes your way. Kevin is a ripping fella and we could have talked league & cricket for hours on end, what a legend.
