lovers unfortunately no ’s to be had at Carnarvon Gorge so we hit the road in search of a another bakery that dishes up outstanding ’s. We headed through Biloela and eventually lobbing in the pretty little town of Monto. This place is a gem, 2 great pubs, great camping facilities and of course a awesome Bakery. The bakery i’m talking about is Picky’s ’s and pastries !!!!

The bakery i’m talking about is Picky’s ’s and pastries !!!!This was a impromptu review, I virtually rocked up unannounced introduced myself to Kerin and Karen and started ripping in. These guys have had this place for over 29 years !!! With Karen originally from Bundaberg and Kerin a born and breed Monto Ite !!!! Kerin the son of a dairy farmer, but he explained to me that his fair skin wasn’t up to the task of a farming life so he decided to start his apprenticeship as a baker.
This place is so easy to find it’s smack bang in the man street of Monto and is open 5 and 1/2 days a week. From ’s to pastries even cream buns the food is awesome !!! I have been to Monto plenty of times but never had one of Kerin’s creations so I was mega keen to tuck in.

Pepper Steak is one of my favorite ’s and I didn’t need much convincing.

3. Meat Flavour – Terrific flavor !!!! Huge chunks of tender meat. The pepper flavor was spot of as well. 8/10
4. Pastry – The pastry was super soft. The base held together perfectly. The top was crispy. 8.5/10
5. Temperature – A tad hot, but overall pretty good. Hardly any waiting around !!!! 9/10
Overall Rating 42.5/50 This was was superb !!! The highlight for me was the flavor !!! The had just enough pepper flavor to give it a little kick !!!! Plus at 5 bucks it’s a great valued !!!!

Weather your passing through or staying overnight this bakery will have all your cravings covered. Monto is a terrific little town with so much to see not only in town but in the area.
I need to send out a huge thanks to Kerin and Karen. These guys are bloody amazing. To let a stranger into their business and allow me to share their story I’m truly grateful. These guys work their arses off !!!!! Karen runs the show while Kerin is busy baking and delivering products all around town. To be still going strong after nearly 30 years in business is remarkable.
These little towns thrive when people are out and about traveling and it’s awesome to see so many people out on the roads particularly in these country towns spending $$$$.
