Muddy Boots Cafe
(Sisters Creek TAS)

Feb 2025

My mini Tassie tour continued on and my next visit was only a short drive from Empiere Eats. I was making my way up to Stanley when I was contacted by a lady named Alana. Alana owns and operates a cute little place called Muddy Boots Cafe.

The Muddy Boots Cafe is located at Sisters Creek which is in the north west of Tasmania between Wynard and Stanley. This old hall has now been converted into a full blown cafe, which Alana has been running for just over 2 years.

Alana a chef by trade has been in the game for over 22 years, but it was her love and passion for good home style food that led her to buying this café. Open (Tue-Sat) everything in this café is homemade and made with love. This is a very cute place and the moment you walk in it feels very homely and inviting. The homemade 🥧’s immediately caught my attention and I couldn’t wait to get started.

Alana has created a great little menu at this place and one that caters for everyone. The scallop 🥧 at $10 was beautiful, and tasted terrific, but it was the slow cooked beef, locally sourced bacon and cheese that caught my attention. Alana said it’s her best seller and I was keen to get stuck in.

🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧

1. Value for Money – $7 was great value and weighing in at 240 odd grams it is slightly above industry standard. The 🥧 was totally full too which is a added bonus. Very well priced. 9.5/10

2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Easy one to score !!! This 🥧 was totally full. 10/10

3. Flavour – Alana has completely nailed the flavour in this 🥧. The meat chunks were massive and cooked to perfection. The locally sourced bacon and melted cheese was the exact mix and wasn’t overpowering. Then to top it off the dark gravy sauce consisting of (bbq, tomato & mixed bacon) was sensational. Overall I couldn’t fault the flavour in this 🥧 job well done. 9/10

4. Pastry – Not bad at all. Yes the pastry has been bought in, but you’ve still gotta get the bake right. While the bottom bake was soft, the stability was quite good and the 🥧 held firmly together. The top bake was perfect, but on one side it was slightly underbaked which the pic will clearly show. The overall pastry flavour had a really taste to it. 8/10

5. Serving Temperature – No issues with the temp. 10/10

Overall Rating
🥧🥧 46.5/50 🥧🥧

Quality, quality product !!! This was a really nice 🥧 as was all the 🥧’s I sampled that day. Seven bucks was great value, the 🥧 was totally full and the flavour was outstanding !!! Yes as mentioned the pastry is bought in, but you’ve still gotta get the bake right and Alana did that. Yes Alana is a chef by trade, but with no official baking experience she has done a wonderful job with this one. Zero hesitations having another one of these awesome 🥧’s. Highly recommended, great job ladies.

As always a huge thanks to Alana and Savannah for there incredible hospitality. This review was so random and I’m glad I took the time to reach out and pop in. Alana has done a sterling job with this place and all her products are off the charts. Keep a eye out for the Muddy Boots sign and 100% drop in to say G’day. For the caravaners, there is heaps of room to pull up with the van. This was a great little find, so make sure you add this joint to your little black 🥧 book.
