Missen Link Burgers
(Traralgon VIC)

June 2025

After a few days of R & R at Warragul catching up with good friends, I jumped in the car and made the short journey east to the town of Traralgon. Traralgon is a city located in the east of the Latrobe Valley in the Gippsland region of Victoria. Known for it’s electricity production, Traralgon benefits from the mining for oil and natural gas in the nearby Bass Strait fields. It’s also home to a epic food joint called Missen Link Burgers.

Owner Guy Missen has had this place for a total of nearly 10 years. He’s been at his current location (3/34 Stratton Drive) for almost 3 years now. Guy a chef by profession and has been in the food game for over 25 years. Assisting him in the shop is baker Brad and a new first year apprentice.

This place is funky, quirky and much much more. The menu is quite extensive and some of the names of the burgers will have you crying in laughter. While I was there I did try one of his signature burgers and it was sensational. The baking area out the back is huge and spotless clean. While I was there Guy showed me the countless 🥧 awards this place has won and that was a perfect segway to get this party started.

Guy and his team have created a great menu, that will satisfy everyone. Also most of the 🥧’s on this menu have won multi awards across various 🥧 competitions around the country. For this weeks review I only wanted one 🥧and that was the “Nothin Missen” so many 🥧 punters tipped me into this 🥧 and I couldn’t wait to get started.

🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧

1. Value for Money – $8.50 in my opinion is terrific value as this would easily be considered a gourmet 🥧. From memory, the pie weighed around 260g and was a decent size in both diameter and depth. 9/10

2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Easy one to adjudicate this 🥧 was totally full. 10/10

3. Flavour – Absolutley sensational, the flavour in this 🥧 got better and better with every bite. Slow cooked brisket, canadian bacon, jalapeños and cheese. Each ingredient could easily be tasted and was the exact amount. Nothing more to say, except in my opinion, this was the perfect flavoured 🥧 10/10

4. Pastry – The overall pastry of this 🥧 was pretty good. The color and stability was terrific and couldn’t be faulted. There was a little shrinkage and the shape was more than satisfactory. The bottom thickness and bake were on point, but the top needed a little work and was slightly underbaked (pics) A couple of things to work on but nothing major. 8/10

5. Serving Temperature – Perfect serving temp. No issues at all. 10/10

Overall Rating
🥧🥧 47/50 🥧🥧

This gold medal 🥧 was freaking good. The flavour by far was my favourite, that slow cooked brisket was nothing short of spectacular. The canadian bacon was a fantastic idea and gave this 🥧 so much extra flavour. To be honest, there wasn’t much wrong with this 🥧, just a few little things to work on with the pastry, but overall the team has done an outstanding job. Great effort Guy, Brad and team this was a magic 🥧.

Trust me, this is one food joint you don’t wanna miss, whether it’s a 🥧 or one of their famous burgers, you 100% need to add this place to your list.

A huge thanks to Guy for getting back to me and allowing me to share his 🥧 journey, what a ripping fella. I put up a post before I left, asking for suggestions and recommendations and this was by far the most popular place. So many people told me this was a must visit and they were absolutely spot on. Guy has this place absolutely humming and this has been achieved through sheer hard work. All the best mate and you will see me again, this was a sensational visit.
