Miss Amelieās Gourmet

I only had a short distance to go for my next review and that was just up the road to Miss Amelie Gourmet. Miss Amelie Gourmet is located on Ford Street and the building itself is absolutely stunning.
The place is owned and operated by Ken and Rachel who started this business by accident. I could give you 1000 guesses and you would not pick the former occupations of these two legends. Ken has a masters degree and still trains elite athletes that includes AFL players, snowboarders and runners. While Vicky is a dietitian and a former over 45 womenās world 400 m champion.
Just before Covid, Ken wanted to open up a brewery, but when Covid hit this couple started doing gourmet food as take away dishes for hungry locals. One of the first recipes they created was cooked beef cheek in a red wine jus. This genius couple then decided to put this recipe into a š„§and as they say, the rest is history.
Fast forward four years and this thriving business now has three locations, and a production space and employees over 40 staff. In 2022 Miss Amelie Gourmet was crowned best gourmet pie at the Official Great Aussie competition.
Being a dietitian, Vicki wanted to create a somewhat healthier version of a š„§. From the very first day they started all their š„§ās have no seed oils, no sugar, no preservatives, and the pastry only contains butter as its only fat source.
If your are after a proper gourmet š„§, these guys put the gourmet into gourmet. The list is endless with flavours such as Moroccan goat, and Thai red duck curry, making a decision was going to be extremely difficult. In the end I had to try their first ever š„§ and as mentioned above that was the slow cooked beef cheek in red wine jus. This thing smelt ridiculous and I was like a kid in a lolly shop and couldnāt wait to get started.
š„§ THE REVIEW š„§
1. Value for Money – $12 is certainly on the high scale, but you need to consider all their š„§ās contain no seed oils, no sugar, no preservatives, and their pastry contains only butter. As far as healthy š„§ās go this is the top of the tree as youāll get. The š„§ was a decent size shape and diameter, plus you need to take into account beef cheek isnāt that cheap at the moment. At $12 this š„§ wonāt be for everyone, but still very good value considering the ingredients and fill 8/10
2. Meat Ratio – Totally full, no room left in this one great job guys 10/10
3. Flavour – One word āDevineā the flavour in this š„§ was absolutely incredible. Slow cooked beef cheek bathed in a red wine jus. Every bite was sensational and I didnāt want it to end. The beef cheek was cooked to perfection and the red wine jus was clearly evident but not overpowering. Great job team, outstanding flavour

4. Pastry – Overall very good. This pastry is made with butter and the flavor was absolutely amazing. The color of this pie, and actually all their š„§ās was very superb. There was a little bit of shrinkage on the top and the top bake was a a little underdone, but apart from this, the pastry was beautiful. 8/10
5. Serving Temperature – No issues here this pie was a perfect serving temperature. 10/10

This was a product of the highest standard. Yes, $12 is expensive but the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves and the taste is second to none. The flavour was crazy crazy good and the red wine jus was to die for. Only a few minor issues with the pastry and these issues can easily be tweaked. This was a terrific š„§ as was all the ones I sampled. These award winning š„§ās speak for themselves, awesome job team. 100% add this place to your own š„§ map. The food here is off the charts and if your lucky to get a beautiful day sit up on the balcony and take in the serenity.
Rachel and Ken are absolute superstars and this was an incredible review. Originally Ken wanted to open a brewery, but š„§ās suddenly took over and now they have created an incredible business thatās only going to get bigger and better. I could have sat there for hours and listened to their incredible story. You wouldnāt meet a nicer couple than these two and Iām so glad I reached out and booked in this review.
