Little Sutton Bakehouse

(Sutton NSW)

August, 2026

Over the past few years I’ve reviewed almost every bakery and 🥧 joint around Canberra and the surrounding areas. There’s only a couple I’ve missed and one of those was the extremely popular Little Sutton Bakehouse in Sutton NSW.

Sutton is a quiet rural village known for its close proximity to Canberra (20km) rolling farmland, and local country charm. The village itself is really tiny, but right in the centre is the bakery. Owners Dan and Omar have had this place for 4.5 years and since taking over they have totally transformed the place. Both Dan and Omar have been in the food and hospitality game for quite some time and last week opened up there second store in the Canberra suberb of Deakin.

Both locations are open 7 days a week and the business employs a whopping 35 staff which is incredible.

The Sutton location oozes class and has a wonderful inside and outside seating area. Inside has a warm feel to it and the cabinet display will grab your attention straight away. The selection of sweets and cakes is first class and the sourdough and savory products will have you frothing at the mouth.

The selection of 🥧’s is also impressive with over 10 different flavours to choose from including a Gluten Free range. My choice of 🥧 was pretty, I went with my trusted “Pepper Steak” This flavour has been one of my favourites for many years and hasn’t let me down yet.

🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧

1. Value for Money – $9.00 is 100% on the high end, but the baking team use only the highest quality of meat and that’s very costly. This was also a very healthy oval shaped 🥧 and was a decent size in depth. Overall the value was great without being spectacular 8/10

2. Meat/Fill Ratio – The pictures will show this 🥧 was totally full, no complaints here 10/10

3. Flavour – Green peppercorns, kibbled pepper, chunky beef mixed in a hearty aromatic gravy. The flavour in this 🥧 was sensational. The peppercorns could be tasted with every bit and had a slight kick. The meat chucks were a very healthy size and melted in your mouth. The gravy blended in beautifully and added extra flavour to this 🥧. In terms of “Pepper Steak” flavours this one was right up there great work guys 9.5/10

4. Pastry – A couple points to work on, but overall the standard of this pastry was really nice. The color and stability were excellent and the top had minimal shrinkage which was a positive. The pastry was golden, flakey and tasted great. The top bake thickness was ok but was a bit underbaked (wet line) while the bottom bake was 90% baked through and the thickness was good 7.5/10

5. Serving Temperature – Perfect 10/10

Overall Rating

🥧🥧 45/50 🥧🥧

This was a quality product and one I really enjoyed. The flavour was a my favourite by far and it was up there with the nicest “Pepper Steak” flavours i’ve experienced. The green peppercorns really gave this 🥧 the extra flavour and in my opinion couldn’t be faulted. The price point was good, the 🥧 was full and the pastry was more than acceptable. To be honest, there’s not much to work on only a few minor tweaks here and there, but overall the team has made a epic 🥧. Great work guys, awesome job, highly recommended.

This is one bakery you want to take a slight detour off the Hume Highway and visit. It’s also a great place to take a break from driving, sit down and relax and enjoy some bloody awesome food. Sutton is a cute area and has a few wineries close by that are also well worth a look.

Dan and Omar you lads run a cracking business and this clearly shows through your products. Your stores are stunning, spotless clean and your staff are sensational. Thank you so much for allowing me to share you 🥧 journey and it’s a journey that’s far from finished. All the best lads and you will 100% be seeing me in your bakery again.

As always thanks for the ongoing support and keep supporting 🇦🇺 bakeries and don’t forget to invite all your friends to the page.
