Home Grain Bakery
After smashing the Goat 🥧 it was time to get in the car and head a few kilometers up the road to another bakery and next in the list was Home Grain Bakery.
Home Grain Bakery is situated on Old Coach Rd Aldinga. You cannot miss this place just keep a eye out for a purple Kombi Van on the top of the building. The building itself is beautiful and is heritage listed. It served as a community’s general store for many years before being converted into the bakery.
Owners Toff and Cara have had this place just just over 11 years plus they also own and operate the Middleton Bakery as well. This operation is huge with both bakeries employing over 42 staff that includes a dozen bakers. That’s crazy numbers for a bakery of this size. Also both Toff and Cara had zero baking experience when they took over. Toff has been a jack of all trades while Cara is from Virginia in the USA and probably didn’t even know what a 🥧 was until she set foot in Aus.
The bakery itself is super impressive from the cabinets, color design, presentation and even the cup cake led light window was pretty bloody awesome. The food on display here was next level. Once again like most bakeries I’ve visited so far the doughnuts were the first things to catch my eye. If doughnuts are your thing you’ve gotta get to SA, however I was here for the 🥧’s and a whole heap had just come out of the oven.
For this weeks review I left the 😂 of choice up to the staff. They decided I give the “Steak, Cheese & Bacon” a go. This was a unanimous decision and boy wiz it looked great.
🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧
1. Value for Money – At $8 this was a pricey 🥧. This is most expensive 🥧 I’ve had on tour thus far. The actual size of the 🥧 was fairly decent and it was filled to the brim with steak not mince. Compared to others I’ve reviewed the value for money was a little steep. 7.5/10
2. Meat Ratio – Totally full !!! No more could have been squeezed into this 🥧. Plus at $8 you would expect it to be full and it was. 10/10
3. Flavour – OMG !!!! This 🥧 tasted insane. The threaded meat melted in your mouth. The smoked bacon had a incredible flavour to it and the melted cheese was the perfect blend. I could have easily had two of these bad boys it was that good. This was a easy score to judge. Loved every bite 10/10
4. Pastry – Perfect !!!! Everything about this pasty was first class, all the main scoring criteria’s were all perfect. The pasty had a incredible flavour as well. Great job. 10/10
5. Serving Temperature – No issues here !!!! The temp was perfect. 10/10

Without a doubt the best steak, cheese and bacon 🥧 I’ve even had. Apart from the $8 price tag being a little high, this was the perfect 🥧. The flavour in this thing was stunning as was the pastries top and bottom bake. Yes it’s a little pricey but your going to absolutely love this 🥧. Highly recommended.
Don’t be a fool and miss this place !!! It’s a bakery you 100% need to add to your own 🥧 map. It’s cool, funky and has a great vibe about the place . The presentation of food on offer here is totally off the charts. So glad these guys reached out and invited me into there business.
