This next review was two visits rolled into one. Last week I caught up with Ryan from
Broomfields Pie Co on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Ryan’s brother has a wholesale 🥧 business in the UK that’s massive and very successful. So when Ryan moved out to 🇦🇺 he came up with a few recipes and starting making his own 🥧’s. 10 years later he’s still making 🥧’s and business is going from strength to strength.
Based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney these traditional UK shaped 🥧’s are now sold all over Sydney and as far as Newcastle. Using the best butter and ingredients these are very different 🥧’s to what I’m used to. The flavours are ridiculous and consistently changing.
After trying many 🥧’s and the rest of the lads in the factory, Ryan put me in touch with one of his wholesale customers and that was Marcel from Nah Yeah Seaforth Pies in the Sydney suberb of Seaforth.
This champion opened up a little hole in the wall joint recently and it’s absolutely flying. Located at 577 Sydney Road Seaforth the place is open 7 days a week and stocks a huge selection of Broomfield 🥧’s. Some of flavours a specific for Nah Yeah and gee wizz they all tasted incredible .
You name it I tried it !! Waygu Beef & Onion, Cheeseburger, Chicken & Leek, Cauliflower and Cheese and the Breaky Pie. The buttery taste in the pastry was devine and while the pastry color looked dark it tasted amazing and held firm until the last bite. My favourite was the Breaky 🥧 then the chicken and leek. Both had lasting incredible flavours and very hard to split.
Marcel might buy in his 🥧’s, but this legend makes his own sausage rolls that were awesome, but the “Star” of the show is Marcel’s homemade “Basque Cheescake 🥧” Vanilla basque cheesecake baked in sour cream and butter puff pastry !!! This thing was ridiculous and this is from a bloke who hardly eats cheesecake. The pastry was sensational and the filling was even better. The $9.50 price tag was well worth the money, so so good. Nah Yeah is a place you 100% need to add to your 🥧 list, It’s a little cracker. The food is off the charts so is the coffee.
Firstly to Ryan thank you so much mate for having me in and setting up the visit with Marcel. Your 🥧’s are different, unique and taste bloody awesome. I know you have some exciting stuff coming up, so all the best with that.
Marcel thank you for your time and hospitality. You’ve taken a huge punt on this new venture and I’m positive you will make it work. You’ve now got me addicted to your cheesecake 🥧’s, meaning I’m 100% going to be back.
