Deniliquin Bakery
(Deniliquin NSW)
(March 2026)
This tour was all but done and dusted, but there was still one more town and bakery I wanted to visit before we got home. I was keen to check out the NSW country town of Deniliquin and the Deniliquin Bakery
Deniliquin is an aquatic playground on the beautiful Edward River, a tributary of the Murray River. The perfect escape for waterskiing, wakeboarding and fishing. It’s also home to the world-famous Deni Ute Muster.
The bakery is located at 69 Davidson Street and open 7 days a week. Current owners Ali and Doug have had the bakery for the last 18 months, but the bakery itself has been around since 1931. Ali has been in the bakery game for many years and this journey has taken her to all parts of the globe.
The bakery building cannot be missed from the main road, the signage stands out like you know what’s. It also has a wonderful outdoor seating area, with plenty of street parking. The interior is stunning with the lay out and more particularly the lighting which is up there with the best in the business. The cabinet display is also super impressive with a massive variety of products on offer that looked incredible. The engine room out the back is huge, I was fortunate enough to see the baking team in full swing. After getting the tour we decided to get the party started and try a few 🥧’s.
There is an awesome menu and variety on offer that will once again cater for every 🥧 lover. The previous day at the pub I was given a tip about the “chunky pepper steak”, I was told it was 🔥’er than most and worth a crack. That’s all I needed to hear and that’s the one I chose to review.
🥧 THE REVIEW 🥧
1. Value for Money – In my opinion 7 bucks is a great value for a pepper steak 🥧 these days. This figure seems to be the average price point, but that could soon change for bakeries with rising costs. This was a decent size 🥧 and was full 9/10
2. Meat/Fill Ratio – Totally full with huge chunks of meat. Nothing more really to say 10/10
3. Flavour – As far a 🔥 pepper 🥧’s go this one is certainly up there, but it wasn’t 🔥 enough to scare you away. The meat pieces were massive and it was beautifully cooked. The cracked black peppercorns were magical and could be tasted with every bite. I loved the flavour in this 🥧, but once again the 🔥ness won’t be for everyone 8.5/10
4. Pastry – The appearance and presentation of this 🥧 was fabulous. The color was golden and their was zero shrinkage on the top bake. The shape and stability were outstanding and couldn’t be faulted. The top bake and thickness were satisfactory, but the bottom bake and sides were slightly underdone (wet lines). These wet lines were only minor and you have to take a decent look to find them. Overall the pastry was near perfect well done 9/10
5. Serving Temperature – Perfect serving temp, zero issues here 10/10
Overall Rating
🥧🥧 46/50 🥧🥧
In my opinion Ali and her baking team have produced an awesome product. The positives far out weighed the negatives. The presentation of all Ali’s 🥧’s is worth mentioning particularly the color. $7 is extremely well priced and the 🥧 is totally full. I do love a chunky pepper steak 🥧 and this one was a little beauty. This is one country bakery you don’t wanna miss. It oozes class and is 100% worth the stop in. Well done guys great job.
As always a massive thanks to Ali, Doug and the rest of the staff for having me in. This review was a great way to end what was a epic tour. As mentioned above this is one classy bakery and the interior lay out and lighting is up there with the best I’ve seen. It’s fantastic to have a great layout, but you have to back it up with outstanding products and that’s exactly what you will find here. All the best guys, I will be back again as I have the famous “Ute Muster” to tick off the bucket list.
Deniliquin is a beautiful little town and well worth the visit. We had a great little overnight stay in the towns designated rest stop, which was only a short stroll to the bakery and nearby pub.
This tour was a fantastic way to kick off the 2026 year. 25 plus reviews posted and seen some unbelievable scenery. The South Coast and Limestone Coasts we’re definitely my highlights. A huge thank you to all bakery owners and staff for having me in and allowing me to share their stories.
As always thanks for the ongoing support and keep supporting 🇦🇺 bakeries and don’t forget to invite all your friends to the page.
